About Us

Located in the southern hills of Appalachia Ohio, The Jackson County Times-Journal is surrounded in picturesque beauty and simplicity. For over 150 years the local paper has been a central part of the lives of Jackson County Citizens. Over time, the newspaper has had a variety of names and owners.  Currently the Jackson County Times-Journal is owned by American Consolidated Media.

The Jackson County Times-Journal is committed to responsible coverage of local news, sports and community stories of interest as well as national, state and regional stories that impact our diversified communities.

T.J., the Jackson County Times-Journal mascot, has helped bring newspaper education into local classrooms. Jackson County youth see T.J. appearing at a variety of events or news worthy functions. A forerunner of The Kid's Chronicle Project, T.J. has stood watch over hundreds of students grades 5-12 as they learned how to create their own newspaper.
