OAK HILL— A 23-year-old man is facing theft charges after he reportedly stole a Zero Turn mower belonging to the Village of Oak Hill on Friday, June 15.

Oak Hill Police were initially dispatched to the Village of Oak Hill maintenance facility at approximately 1 p.m. to investigate a possible Breaking and Entering, but determined very quickly that a zero-turn mower was missing.

About 25 minutes later Oak Hill Police Officers observed Matthew Cody Mitchell of George Faulkner Road in Oak Hill in possession of the mower in question. Officers located Mitchell on State Route 279 several miles east of Oak Hill.

Mitchell was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility and charged with felony theft.

Mitchell had a hearing on Monday, June 18, where bond was set at $150,000, ten percent cash or full surety. A second hearing was scheduled for Tuesday, June 19, at 9:15 a.m. where Mitchell was bound over to Jackson County Common Pleas Court.
